Natural Ways To Preserve The Color Of Your Teeth After They Have Been Whitened

Posted on

After your teeth are professionally whitened by your dentist, you may be fearful about severe stains forming again, based upon the types of food and beverages that you eat and drink. Learn how to preserve the color of your teeth naturally by completing the tips below so that your smile continues to look great and you remain confident about your appearance.

Baking Soda And Lemon Juice Paste

Baking soda is mildly abrasive and will assist with removing discolorations on teeth before they become severe. Add a few spoonfuls of baking soda to a cup and add some lemon juice to it. Mix the two ingredients until they have the consistency of paste. The lemon juice that was added to the baking soda will help keep your breath fresh and eliminate an unpleasant taste that is often associated with baking soda.

Apply a small amount of the paste to your toothbrush and brush the surface of each tooth as you would with traditional toothpaste. Rinse your mouth when finished. Repeat this process whenever your teeth have a dingy appearance that you are not pleased with.

Fresh Fruits And Vegetables

Besides being packed with nutrients. fresh fruits and vegetables can be used to scrub the surface of your teeth so that staining does not become permanent. Pack some apples, carrots, celery stalks, or any other crunchy fruit or vegetable with you when you are going out to dine or head off to work.

After you drink a beverage or eat a food item that could potentially ruin the color of your teeth, such as coffee, tea, beets, or sauces, snack on one of the items that you have brought along with you. Keep a steady supply of your favorite fruits and vegetables at home, as well, and get into the habit of eating one or two of them after each meal.

Orange Peels

The interior of an orange peel contains limonene, vitamin C, and fiber, which are all capable of naturally whitening teeth. Place an orange peel directly over the teeth that you would like to treat. Press the back of the peel down firmly so that its interior is resting against your teeth's enamel. Leave the orange peel in place for several minutes while gripping your lips together. Remove the peel and apply it to another section of your mouth if you would like to treat additional teeth. Rinse your mouth out with water when finished.
