4 Ways To Keep Clear Braces Clean

Posted on

Clear braces are a favorite among adults who need braces because they are not as obvious as their metal and rubber-band counterparts that are typically used for adolescents who need braces. However, clear braces don't stay clean and clear on their own. You need to make sure that you take proper care of your clear braces in order to protect the health of your teeth and keep your smile looking as great as possible.

#1 Brush Your Teeth Three Times a Day

When you are wearing clear braces, you are going to want to step up your brushing game. When you are wearing clear braces, instead of just brushing your teeth in the morning and evening, add a mid-day brush to your cleaning routine. Adding an extra brushing session to the middle of your day is the best way to keep teeth in great shape when you have clear braces. Ideally, you should take time to brush your teeth after every meal.

#2 Use Mouthwash Twice a Day

Mouthwash is extra important when you are wearing braces. Mouthwash helps get around all the parts of your braces and ensures that your entire mouth is clean. It is great for getting all the nooks and crannies inside of your mouth clean that may be missed by your brush.

Rinse out your mouth with mouthwash in the morning and evening to ensure that your teeth are as clean as possible.

#3 Use a Water Pick

Another way to make sure that you get rid of all the food in your mouth is with a water pick. A water pick is a tool that delivers water at a high rate to your mouth. The purpose of a water pick is to remove built-up food particles as well as plaque from your mouth. A water pick can be really useful when you have braces. Even with great flossing and brushing, it is still possible to miss something. A water pick is a great way to ensure that your mouth is as clean as possible at the end of the day.

#4 Keep Up the Flossing

Don't skimp out on flossing just because you have braces. Flossing will take more time and effort when you have braces; however, it is just as important, if not more important, to floss now that you have braces. You want to get around your braces and in between your teeth. A floss pick can be useful for getting around your braces.

When you have clear braces, you want to spend more time working on cleaning your teeth and keeping them clean. You want your teeth to stay as healthy as possible while your teeth are getting straightened out. Contact a clinic, like Northwest Dental Services and Implant Center, for more help.
